This virtual institute is designed to introduce professionals who regularly interact with youth to the fundamentals of youth safeguarding practices and enhance their skills to respond to concerns of youth maltreatment. The training is framed by Jewish text and values and employs a trauma-informed lens. During the interactive institute, participants will have the opportunity to learn, interact with, and practice new skills through discussions, scenarios, and role playing.

The following topics will be covered at the institute:

Identifying indicators of physical, sexual and emotional abuse in youth.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and their impact on youth well-being.

Factors that contribute to the risk of maltreatment and resiliency of youth.

The integration of trauma-informed practices into youth-serving organizations.

The identification of youth disclosures of abuse and strategies to respond to disclosures.

Mandated reporting.

Guidelines for adult-youth interactions and peer-to-peer relationships in both virtual and in-person programming.

*Please note that the content of this institute is considered introductory and is the same content as presented at the 2023 Institute. We anticipate also holding an advanced institute in future years*

To promote participation across time zones in the continental United States, the sessions will be held from
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pacific/ Noon to 5 p.m. Eastern on each day of the two-day institute.

We encourage organizations to send teams so that knowledge is shared across the organization. To ensure full participation and interaction, we ask that participants do not share one computer but attend individually. Each registrant will receive a unique login once their registration request has been processed.

Cancellation Policy: Should a participant need to cancel their registration, a full refund will be given if the cancellation occurs at least 5 business days prior to the scheduled training. If the cancellation occurs fewer than 5 business days, 25% of the registration fee will be refunded.
